Last month, in partnership with Indy Parks, the Department of Public Works hosted a Post-Holiday Recycling Extravaganza at select city parks. The multi-material recycling event provided residents with an opportunity to properly dispose of hard-to-recycle items such as cardboard and electronics. Following the success of the event and genuine public interest in additional recycling opportunities, Broad Ripple Park recently added new cardboard bins (3) for residents. The cardboard bins have been placed next to the existing large green Recycle Indianapolis 'Drop-Off" containers which currently accept glass, beverage/food cans, aluminum, plastics, newspapers and magazines.

As you know - cardboard recycling is important because it conserves much of the energy used in creating cardboard from virgin materials. Please note: These bins are strictly for RESIDENTIAL USE ONLY. As with many recycling areas, commercial use or public dumping is not permitted. The bins will be emptied periodically throughout the week. In the event that the bins are full - residents are being asked to visit the nearest cardboard recycling site or check back in the park after a few days. This is a fantastic service for Broad Ripple residents to promote environmental responsibility within the area.
