The young area attorney stepped in as the District 3 Councilman early in the year when Bradford decided to step down. Since then, Vaughn has been re-elected to serve another term representing Broad Ripple and the surrounding area.

The communications committee of the Broad Ripple Village Association began their bi-weekly spread "The Village News and Views." The newsletter featured interviews with association members as well as updates on current BRVA projects.

Indianapolis Public Schools' Superintendent Dr. Eugene White visited Broad Ripple High School for a public discussion of IPS reform. The meeting centered around one of the most controversial issues-a dress code that began for the students this past August.

The summer of 2007 will go down in Indianapolis history as the summer of property taxes. Broad Ripple and surrounding area homeowners received bills in the mail that, in some cases, tripled last year's rates. There was enough public frenzy to convince Governor Mitch Daniels to repeal the bills and return to last year's rates.

Musical Family Tree, in association with Nuvo, Small Box Consulting and the BRVA sponsored the first annual Broad Ripple Fall Music Festival. Area venues helped by promoting local music acts while sponsoring local charities at the time.
