Old Town of Broad Ripple Meeting Minutes #88

The Town of Broad Ripple was incorporated in 1894, and started holding regular meetings at that time. In each issue, I will print my transcription of the old Town of Broad Ripple meeting minutes. These are taken from the original, hand-written minutes that contain many spelling errors. I have transcribed all the records as they were entered, including errors. I will make some corrections to the text in brackets [ ]. The original minutes books are at the Indiana State Archives at 6440 E. 30th St.

13th Oct 1899
The Board met in special session all present
On motion of H.C. Gresh the size of the building for the new fire apparatis was changed to 18 X 30 feet instead of 16 X 24 and the contract for the building was awarded to Columbus Wright he agreeing to furnish all material & construct the building according to plans & specifications for $200.00 Minutes approved as read

A bill for $32.77 was allowed Ferguson Bros for frame lumber
A bill for $21.24 was allowed J.A. Isgrigg & C for lumber
A bill for $110.80 was allowed J.A. Isgrigg for lumber
A bill for $15.00 was allowed Jesse Day for work done on fire apparatis hose
A bill for $10 .67 was allowed E.H. Pursel for hardware
A bill for $9.00 was allowed Omer Boardman for 90 loads of gravil
A bill for $25.00 was allowed Geo. B. Melick for service as Town Marshal from 10th Oct to 10th Nov 1899 & use of telephone
A bill of $6.00 was allowed J.H. Campbell for services as Treasurer from 10th May to 19th Nov 1899
A bill for $6.00 was allowed H.C. Gresh for service as Trustee from May 10th to Nov 10th 1899
A bill of $6.00 was allowed C.L. Kirk for services as Trustee from 10th May to 10th Nov 1899
A bill for $9.00 was allowed Jas. H. Brady for service as Clerk from 10th May to 10th Nov 1899
The Board adjourned to meet Wednesday 15th Nov 1899
The minutes were approved as read
