Saturday night pizza for "bridge kids" returns
by Alan Hague
posted: Sept. 07, 2007

Billed as "the return of teenage happiness", the free pizza night event started again on September 1, 2007, at the New Paradigm Church, located at 62nd and Carrollton Avenue.
I asked event organizer William Levin why he became involved in the free pizza night program.
"Because my daughter went to them all the time. Then she came home and said 'Daddy, nobody is doing pizza night.' I realized how important it was for the youth to have a place to call their own and go to. I started talking to churches.
Pastor Jerry Sizemore at New Paradigm Church told me that is where [free pizza nights] started. We talked and came to an agreement that we would try it on September 1st and run it the first Saturday of each month."
Hot Box Pizza, located at 715 Broad Ripple Avenue, is supplying the pizzas to Levin at half-price for the Saturday events. Any person or business that is interested in donations to help fund the free pizza nights can contact William Levin at Bling! of Broad Ripple 251-3333.
Another teen program Levin is working on is being held at the new Vibes Records located at 54th and the Monon Trail. This will be a family picnic night with live music every Friday night. Those that bring food to share will be admitted at no cost. Otherwise there will be a small admission charge. The picnic will be "tailgating" style and the live music will be inside on the stage. The first Vibes Family Picnic Night will be Friday, September 7, 2007.
Levin is exploring the possibility of a permanent community/youth center in Broad Ripple. "If you add up all of the local area high schools we have 10,000 teenagers," exclaimed Levin. "They need a spot to call their own that is centrally located."
