The first annual Ripple Effect race took place on September 2, 2007, with nearly 400 participants.
Those involved in the four mile run/walk began their journey in the Sunflower Market parking lot, crossed the Village on the main avenue, headed north on College, eastbound on 75th Street and wound their way down Westfield to Winthrop and back to the Sunflower lot.
Chris Swisher of Fishers finished first in the men's division with a time of 19:09. He was running at a 4:47 mile pace. The first female to finish was Gina Naas of Indianapolis. She came in at 26:08 running a 6:32 mile pace.
Around 80 volunteers from numerous businesses and area organizations helped to staff the event. The temperature for the evening event averaged around 77 degrees and it was sunny.
The money raised by the race will benefit the Broad Ripple Village Association.
