Random Rippling - Easter "Begg" Hunt beats weather to raise money for ARPC
posted: Apr. 06, 2007
It was a stormy Saturday - lightning and thunder all around. The bad weather cleared for about an hour, which was just long enough for Easter Begg 2007. Elizabeth and I arrived with Ruthie (our CCI dog in training) at about 10:20. There were already a few hundred dogs and owners lined up on the trails in Broad Ripple Park. Three Dog Bakery had carefully hidden more than 1500 plastic eggs throughout the park. The eggs contained treats for the dogs and coupons for the owners. Each entrant could pick up fifteen eggs. We ran into Abby, who sniffed out a very special glitter egg for her owner. Right after most of the eggs had been found, the skies let loose with a tremendous clap of thunder and a downpour.
According to Stacy Petcu of Three Dog bakery, $495 was raised for the Alliance for Responsible Pet Ownership (ARPO) a local dog rescue group. For information of the group, visit www.adoptarpo.org
Abby and her proud owner display one of her golden finds. All proceeds from the Begg Hunt benefited the ARPO.
