Savvy Salon celebrated in style the opening of its new loft on Saturday, January 23rd. Owner Katie Jones has taken her salon to the next level by more than doubling the space. The grand opening gala was attended by friends, family, and clients of all the stylists. DJ Helicon spun hip-hop for the hip crowd while Broad Ripple's best-dressed mingled, ate finger food, and sipped wine.

High fashion is the aim of all the hairstyles created by Katie and her staff, and what better way to celebrate than with a fashion show? The theme was new styles for Spring 2007, and models donned the new looks and mingled among the crowd. Jones and her apprentices spent the day creating hairstyles and makeup for the men and women. Leggings, empire waist shirts and dresses, and bright colored makeup were popular looks of the night.

The added salon space has allowed for an expanded retail section downstairs. Savvy Salon offers many Bed Head hair and makeup products, as well as hair accessories like clip-in extensions.

Danyell Warren, an apprentice at Savvy, explained the training that each stylist completes. After completing school, the novice will train under Jones for a period of time, doing her colors and getting one-on-one support to become an independent stylist. This method assures that the new space will be filled with well-qualified stylists to maintain the Savvy image.
