For a few years, I have been unable to talk about what I've seen on the White River due to an underlying sense of doom. While returning from my haunts at the Broad Ripple Brew Pub last week, I decided to reveal what the river has been harboring. The green sea serpent is 'Nellie', according to a brave, cigarette wielding dishwasher (of years past) who was lurking behind a restaurant that faces the White. The 'Claws' have appeared in recent months? weeks? the thought is too staggering! Once obscured by fall foliage, both can be seen from behind Applebees Restaurant (in 2006, Joella's in 2021).
