Everybody loves a parade. At a little past 3 P.M. on Friday, September 29, 2006, the sirens started, marking the start of the annual Broad Ripple HighSchool homecoming parade. A few moments later the R.O.T.C. Color Guard appeared at the top of the 61st Street hill behind the school.
As the marching band passed by playing the BRHS fight song, residents ran out of their houses to watch the show. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors rode on their floats - some throwing necklaces and candy to the crowd.
The parade continued across 61st Street to College Avenue, turned up College to Broad Ripple Avenue, then across Broad Ripple Avenue with a brief stop in front of La Jolla. This is the spot were parents and teachers gather to watch the parade. The band stops in front of the deck to perform a few songs.
At 7 P.M. that evening, the Rockets played Arlington High School in the homecoming football game. The BRHS class of 1981 set up a table to welcome alumni. The stands were absolutely packed for the game.
