Many area parents and students have fond memories of Jean Evans. She has been part of the Indianapolis Public Schools system for 35 years. For the past nine years she was the principal of School 84, which is located at 57th and Central Avenue. Previously, Jean spent ten years at School 86, which was located at 49th and Capital Avenue; three years at School 14, which is located at 1250 E. Market Street; and twelve years at School 43, which is located at 40th and Capital Avenue.
On May 22, 2016, there was a Hawaiian-themed retirement reception for Jean in the School 84 gym. Friends, family, collegues, and past students stopped by to wish her well.
This fall Christine Collier will be the principal of School 84 and the new magnet program, the Center For Inquiry (CFI). Dora Brook will be assistant principal. The construction project to expand School 84 will begin in September.
