Random Rippling - Jock Hits 25 Years at Vogue
posted: May 19, 2006
On May 12, 2006, Vogue owner Steve Ross called a mandatory employee meeting. The rumors started flying. Long-time Vogue employee Jock Maggard thought he had figured out the purpose of the meeting. "Steve really wants everybody here - he's selling the place," explained Jock. "I thought, okay, it has been 20 years [that Steve has owned the Vogue], this is it!"
Jock was wrong. The meeting was actually a celebration for Jock, who has been a bartender at The Vogue for 25 years. "What can I say about Jock," asked Steve Ross. "You have been a great person. You've been awesome to work with. You've been a solid asset and part of the Vogue for so many years." Steve presented Jock with a "Oscar" statue with 24-carat gold plating. The plaque reads "Jock - Thanks so much for 25 years of service. Your great personality and professionalism in dealing with whatever we threw at you. You have been a real asset. Sincerely, The Vogue."
Steve Ross presented Jock with a copy of his job application from 1981.
