Poetic Thoughts - Win Asante - by C.W. Pruitt II
posted: Apr. 21, 2006
When Win is working the register at Kroger Glendale (65th and Keystone) and there are no lines (such as at 3 A.M.), I can count on stimulating conversation. Win enjoys talking Economics, Politics, and Technology. On these topics I am on the learning curve.
Win Asante is from Ghana, and has been in America for two years. He chose to live in Indianapolis because he wanted to live in a quiet place in the midwest.
While Win may be enjoying the quietude, he is busting his butt for the American dream. He is working two jobs and is a full-time college student. Win is also a partner in a web site called collegeandme.com. The site does student networking, networking with professionals, and job postings.
Win is working real hard. But the cool thing about Win is - he always does it with a smile.
The Immigrant
Works 100 hours
a week.
A place to sleep.
Food to eat.
So what, you
may ask, does
the immigrant do
with so much
time working
and so little
time playing?
I am convinced
that the immigrant
spends ALL
of his time
dreaming . . .
