2005 Touch-A-Truck was a Real Honker
posted: Jun. 24, 2005
June 17, 2005 - Broad Ripple Park's 2005 version of Touch-A-Truck was a big hit with the kids and their parents. The weather was clear and cool on this Friday morning. The east end of the parking lot was filled with vehicles of all sizes - from a Donato's Pizza PT Cruiser to a huge Bus.
Charlie Klage enjoyed pretending to drive the Lowe's delivery van.
"Another year of great weather!" exclaimed Kathy Fitzgerald, IndyParks senior program coordinator. "We have several new vehicles this year. Lowe's sent a delivery van, Free Enterprise sent this gigantic bus, and the Colts sent a van. This is also the first year for Adzooks Puppeteers."
Attendance is limited to 350 to minimize lines at the trucks, although the IMI cement mixer still had quite a long line. This year's offerings included a ladder fire truck, fire rescue truck, trash truck with a robotic arm, cement mixer, park ranger car, ambulance, IndyParks fleet truck (with the loudest horn I have ever heard!), locksmith van, Lowe's delivery van, Donato's Pizza van, Free Enterprise cruising bus, school bus, Hummer, stretch limousine, mail van, Army camouflage truck, IPD police squad car, ARAB Beetle, the mobile kids ID unit, IndyParks Bringing Nature to You van, and a recreational vehicle. I am sure I left some out, but those are the ones I have in my pictures.
There was also a play area for younger children. WFMS handed out toys and the Adzooks puppeteers let kids play with puppets.

The IndyParks squirrel found many new friends at the event.
Luke Hellman had a great time driving the big IndyParks fleet truck.
