Ripples Beneath The Surface - Depression - the darkness - by Ihnna Han

Depression must be the most feared feeling that we know of. It is surprising how many people are under medication for this reason.
Most people I meet that take medication for depression cannot feel very much. While these people seem functional in a way, life becomes dull, and passions disappear. Overwhelming stress and emotional trauma drove them to the place where they don't want to deal with any feelings.
The word functional seems very attractive compared to sad, devastated, or irrational. For them, the choice to take pills to make them functional seems rational. I think we are missing the big picture.
Without feelings, it is not possible to find happiness. How can you find happiness when you don't know how to feel? How can we show happiness to our children when we don't know what it is? Having a big car, a fancy house, and nice clothing is not happiness. These things are nice to have, but that does not satisfy your soul.
Depression is where there is no hope of happiness, but you may still be able to find what matters to you the most. Despite the all the difficulties and perceived fear, you can find creative ways to reach your goals no matter how long it takes. You should find out what matters to you the most. I do not believe life skill is about being functional. It is about living life fully so as to satisfy your innermost honorable passion.
Don't be afraid of your dark feelings. With a bit of practice, you can use these feelings as a motivation to achieve.
Be free and go beyond.
