BRHS Alum Open Brugge Brasserie to Packed House

April 21, 2005 - After months of anticipation the Brugge Brasserie held their pre-opening party on Thursday evening. It was standing room only throughout the "gastro-pub" located at 1011 Westfield Boulevard. The young crowd knows this as the Netheads building. For me, it is the Broad Ripple Sports Shop building.
All four partners of the Brugge Brasserie are Broad Ripple High School grads. Our readers will recognize Abraham Benrubi in the above picture as Jerry Markovic of NBC's ER. He is also in the currently playing film Miss Congeniality 2, Armed and Fabulous.
Pre-opening party - Brugge's four partners - Eli Schloss, Abraham Benrubi, Shannon Miller, and Ted Miller.
At tonight's party, several of Brugge's specialties were available for sampling, such as mussel pots and large cones of pomme-frites (french fries) with homemade dipping sauces. Four Belgian brewed-in-house ales and lagers are on tap.
The term gastro-pub is from Europe and refers to a pub with high-quality foods in a friendly environment. Brugge is the first in the midwest.
A complete report on the Brugge Brasserie will appear on the new business page of a future issue of the Gazette.
