I am sitting in The Monon Coffee Company, located at 920 E Westfield Boulevard right next to the Monon Trail. Monon has installed a wireless access point so customers can get e-mail and surf the web - very cool. There is no charge for the service and no sign-up required, so after initiating your wireless utility, just open your browser and you are on the web. The system behind this Hot Spot is DSL from SBC, providing up to a fast 1000 Mbps. I am using my new gadget today, the newest model of the iPAQ pocket PC by Hewlett Packard. My unit has integrated wireless, or WiFi, so I only have to turn on the WiFi to see several signals. I choose the one called Monon, and my pocket PC picks up on the signal and connects me. I tried to go to CNet to get a download speed, but CNet does not like me so it keeps kicking off my IE browser. Such is the price one pays in the developing world of pocket PC's. I can get to other Web sites like USA today and I can get Hot Mail, so all is well.
This place has a lot of choices to kill your hunger. For example, Smoothies are $3.50 with five varieties such as strawberry and banana. Fresh juices are $3.77. The house juice is carrot/apple but there are also the following choices available to make your own concoction: celery, cucumber, tomato, parsley, beet, green pepper, garlic and lemon.

Wow, the list goes on. I would have to write two articles to mention everything. There are prepared sandwiches for $5.26 or packaged ones for $5.00. You can get a bagel for $1.00, and a variety of snacks including bottled juices and water. There are scones, shortbread, macaroons, and cookies. You are not going to go away hungry from here.
Did I mention they sell coffee? The regular drip coffee goes for $1.25 per cup with 50-cent help-your-self refills. Nice thing about the drip coffee is you don't have to wait in line, as there is an honor system utilizing a jar to throw your money into and even make your own change. Cappuccinos, lattés, and mochas start at $2.36. There are lots of varieties of tea to choose from at $1.50 per cup.
There are a few things you can look at, like loaner books or flyers of all kinds from local advertisers. The Broad Ripple Gazette is available!
There are four tables with chairs, three comfy chairs, and a bar with four barstools. There are three AC outlets available - two in the back area and one in front. I did not notice any other person using the wireless connection when I was here, but there were business meetings going on so you would not be feeling like you were taking up needed space by checking out your e-mail here. William Powell, the manager, told me he is glad to have laptop users here making use of the Internet. On your way out don't fail to notice the doggy treat bowl. Get your favorite canine one of these treats so he won't mind if you left him tied up outside.
