Winter Storm Delays Gazette

The last issue of the Broad Ripple Gazette was delivered a bit late due to the tremendous winter storm that hit central Indiana on December 22, 2004. Columbus, Indiana, where the Gazette is printed, received 24 inches of snow.
On Thursday morning when we would normally pick up the papers, the snow was so deep at the loading dock that even the production manager couldn't get his truck to the building. He had to park down the road and walk.
By Friday the plows had cleared the way. We saw several flipped trucks and SUVs along I-65 on the trip to Columbus to pick up the papers.
Delivering the 4,500 papers to more than 90 locations was a challenge due to the piles of snow in the parking lanes and the single-digit temperatures. With the help of friends, we had three delivery crews working. Without their help, the Gazette would have been even later. After the initial delivery was complete we celebrated and warmed up at the Ripple Bagel Deli. (Yes, I had the Broad Ripple Gazette bagel sandwich and rice crispie square.)
Thanks for your patience. We hope to see you at the open house/party on January 22, 2005, at the American Legion Post #3.
