Pizza Scene - Milano's Sunny's Pizza - by Mark Rumreich

Milano's Sunny's Pizza is in the Broad Ripple Station shopping center at 1035 Broad Ripple Avenue. The red MILANO'S sign is hard to spot from the street, but you'll find Broad Ripple Station just west of Broad Ripple High School. Milano's Sunny's Pizza is right on the Monon Trail, which makes it a convenient stop.
If you're looking for a fast place for lunch or dinner with something for everybody, this is for you. Milano's Sunny's Pizza serves pizza by the slice, highly-rated calzones and strombolis, pasta dishes, submarine sandwiches and fresh salads. If you have a little more time, have a made-to-order pizza. Toppings from almonds to zucchini as well as more traditional toppings are available. If you're looking for something different, there are nineteen specialty pizzas, some with alfredo, BBQ or no sauce.
The restaurant is pleasant and well-lit, and the staff is friendly. Orders are placed at the counter and brought to your table. There is no special kids menu, but there are plenty of items on the menu for kids. There's a good selection of bottled and fountain drinks (sorry, no beer). Hand-dipped ice cream is also available.
We visited on a Thursday night and had no wait. We ordered our standard reference pizza: pepperoni and Italian sausage and a "white pizza," a specialty pie with olive oil, garlic, mozzarella, provolone and black olives (no sauce). The pizzas arrived at our table steaming hot. The crusts were thin, golden brown and slightly chewy. The sauce was mild, but tasty. The Italian sausage was a little too mild for me, but the spicy pepperoni kicked it up a notch. Since there was no sauce or meat on the white pizza, it reminded me of an appetizer as much as a pizza. It would be great with pasta or salad as an upgrade over garlic bread or bread sticks. Overall, a good pizza experience!
In addition to dine-in, Milano's Sunny's Pizza offers delivery and a drive-through window for carry out.
