Old Town of Broad Ripple Meeting Minutes #3

The Town of Broad Ripple was incorporated in 1894 and started holding regular meetings.
In this column, each issue, I will print my transcription of the old Town of Broad Ripple meeting minutes. These are taken from the original, hand-written minutes that contain many spelling errors. I have transcribed all of the records as they were entered, including those errors. I will make some corrections in brackets [ ].
In the last installment: The election results were recorded.
Here is the third installment:
Broad Ripple
16th July 1894
Oft a special meeting of the Trustees of the town of Broad Ripple which was held at the office of Dr. JW Bates at 8 o.C P.M. on the 16th day of July 1894.
On motion of CL Kirk, Neils BS Florander was elected President. Jas H Brady then offered his Bond of Five hundred dollars ($500.00) on motion of CL Kirk the bond of Jas H Brady as Clerk with RC Light as surity was accepted.
On motion of Dr JW Bates ordinance No 1 granting The Indianapolis and Broad Ripple Rapid Transit Company street car Franchise was passed.
On motion of JW Bates it was ordered that the regular Board meeting should be held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday nights of each month at the office of JW Bates
The meeting then adjourned July 30th 1894

17th July 1894
The regular meeting of the Trustees of the town of Broad Ripple was held at the office of JW Bates at 8 o.C P.M. on the 17th July 1894
On Motion of CL Kirk the Bond of Geo E Hubbard of Five hundred dollars was accepted for Town Marshall with RC Light as surity.
On motion of CL Kirk it was ordered to have a special meeting on Friday 20th July 1894 to pass a Weed Ordinance.
On motion of CL Kirk it was ordered that JW Bates buy a badge for Geo E Hubbard (Marshall).
The meeting then adjourned to meet on Friday 20th of July 1894 at 7:30 oC P.M.

The board meet in special session but JW Bates been absent it adjourned to meet on Monday 30th July 1894. The minutes of the meeting of 20th of July 1894 were adopted as read
