Random Rippling - Gene Ring Reunion for BRHS BB

Sixteen members of Gene Ring's teams during his Broad Ripple High School coaching career during the 1960s gathered for a reunion with members of the Gene Ring family at Meridian Hills Country Club, 7099 Spring Mill Road [DD19 on map].
The reunion came about when Steve Ring, son of famed BRHS coach (1961 - 1969) Gene Ring, offered several scrapbooks of Gene's to Bruce Buchanan to put on display at Flanner Buchanan with the yearbook collection that is there. Bruce is on the Broad Ripple High School Alumni Association board and recently helped to catalog the vast collection of memorabilia from the school.
Jack Hogan (1963 grad and Indiana Basketball Hall of Famer) got a call to ask if he wanted to see the scrapbooks. Before long all were trying to figure out how to get old teammates together to see the scrapbooks, and that is when Jack Hogan volunteered to host the event.
We are glad that happened, and that they invited the Gazette, because it is a rare occurrence to get this many teammates together.

A scale model of the 1962 basketball court at BRHS. It was slightly short for regulation so they had two midcourt lines to make up the lost measurement. The jump ring in the center of that original court is still visible in a cutout of the carpet in the library at the school.
