Poetic Thoughts - St. John Coltrane - by C.W. Pruitt II
posted: Feb. 22, 2013
The poem below is a tribute to the mystical saxophone artist John Coltane.
St. John Coltrane
He could improvise,
pulling note
out of ether.
The natural mystic
extends his horn
and reaches out.
He is rewarded
for his supplication
by the eternal physics
of jazz.
And we witness
to the beauty and perfection
of the sounds
of St. John Coltrane
hear the Holy Spirit
and anticipate it eagerly
on the other side.
