posted: Sept. 26, 2008
Some of you know Brian Duff from the April Show. A few of you may have his paintings or drawings adorning your walls. A selection of his visual art may be viewed at DUFFCOLORS.COM.
I know Duff as a guitarist, violinist, and poet. Below are 3 poems Brian Duff wrote on May 14, 2008:
Cheyenne
My mother is like a tameless truthbox
who cannot lie to calm you,
and though it seems I'm far
from her now,
our thoughts are one,
expecting the best and
worst yet to come.
Oranje
orange is a color to avoid.
an orange fruit is actually
yellow, blue and green.
very few, if anything,
is actually orange.
maybe Vincent's sunflowers
are orange.
I'd be surprised.
I like to be surprised.
4th of July 1989 or 90
I fear I am dying,
fear I'll live a thousand lives,
but once in the moonlight I
lay playing flashlight tag
and gazed at fireworks,
revealing my station.
